"Storm Boy" is a 1976 Australian drama film based on the novel of the same name by Colin Thiele, about a lonely boy and his pet pelicans living in a coastal wilderness with his reclusive father. The film follows Mike (Greg Rowe), a young boy who forms a bond with an Aboriginal native loner, Fingerbone Bill (David Gulpilil), after encountering him while searching for friendship on the deserted coast of South Australia's Coorong. As Mike cares for three orphaned pelican chicks alongside Fingerbone and his father 'Hide Away' Tom (Peter Cummins), he learns valuable lessons about life, loss, and belonging. The film ultimately sends Mike to boarding school, but not before a poignant encounter with the pelicans, particularly Mr Percival, who forms a deep bond with the boy.
