In 1516, corsair Aroudj Barbarossa frees the city of Algiers from Spanish rule, sparking rumors that he may have assassinated King Salim Toumi. Queen Zaphira, determined to confront Barbarossa and stand up for herself, takes a stand against him. Adila Bendimerad stars as the last queen, playing off her own research into the figure's existence and erasure from history.
