Botany Bay

In 1787, American medical student Hugh Tallant (Alan Ladd) is falsely convicted of robbery and sentenced to life imprisonment in New South Wales on a ship called Charlotte. As he navigates the harsh conditions of the voyage and the cruelty of Captain Paul Gilbert (James Mason), Tallant finds himself torn between his own survival and his attempts to escape. He eventually teams up with Sally Munroe (Patricia Medina) and, after being pardoned, uses his medical skills to help the crew avoid a deadly plague that could have exposed the colony to the fatal disease raging on board.
