The Birth of a Nation

In 19th century Virginia, Nat Turner, a young slave turned preacher, is determined to lead his community to freedom despite the crushing weight of slavery and oppression. As he gains a basic education from his wife Elizabeth, he becomes a powerful voice for the slaves, using the Bible to justify their endurance but also urging them to take action against their oppressors. When Nat's message sparks outrage among slave owners, he must confront the brutal reality of their response, leading him to lead a violent rebellion that will change the course of history and ultimately cost him his life.
