Something Wild

Something Wild is a 1961 American neo-noir psychological drama film about a young New York City college student, Mary Ann Robinson (Carroll Baker), who, after being brutally raped in a Bronx park, is held captive by a mechanic, Mike (Ralph Meeker). She almost jumps to her death into the East River but is stopped by Mike, who later blinds him with an eye injury. Despite his physical aggression, Mike proposes marriage to Mary Ann and eventually earns her trust through his acceptance of her punishment for defending herself against him.
