Ankur

Ankur follows the lives of two women, Laxmi (Shabana Azmi) and Saru, in a small Indian village, where Surya (Anant Nag), the son of the landlord, returns to oversee his estate after finishing his studies. As Surya takes on administrative responsibilities, he forms an attraction towards Laxmi, who is initially hesitant to reciprocate due to their different social classes and her marriage to a deaf-mute alcoholic potter, Kishtayya (Sadhu Meher). The situation becomes complicated when Kishtayya returns from his drunken exile and discovers Surya's relationship with Lakshmi, leading to a violent confrontation.
