Bread and Roses

Maya (Pilar Padilla) and her sister Rosa are struggling to make ends meet after arriving in Los Angeles without papers. Maya finds work as a janitor at a high-rise building, where she meets Sam Shapiro (Adrien Brody), a union organizer fighting for better wages and working conditions for the building's workers. As Maya becomes more involved with the union movement, she must navigate her own relationships with Rosa and Sam, who becomes a potential love interest despite Rosa's initial reservations about losing their jobs to unionization efforts.
