A 1946 period drama film, Dragonwyck is an adaptation of Anya Seton's novel about a simple Connecticut farm girl recruited by her aristocratic cousin to be governess to his young daughter in his Hudson Valley mansion, where she becomes embroiled in a sinister romance with a patroon plagued by mental illness and paranoia, and ultimately must fight for survival against a deadly family curse.
