The 1972 Yugoslav children's film "Vuk samotnjak" follows Ranko (Slavko Štimac), a young boy who befriends a large German Shepherd in the mountains after freeing it from a trap. When local villagers mistake the dog for a dangerous wolf, Ranko secretly feeds it and saves his companion from a real wolf attack during a hunt organized by the villagers. In a climactic moment, Ranko solidifies their bond by saving Hund from the hunting party, proving that loyalty and friendship can triumph over fear and misconception.
