Baarìa (2009) is a historical drama film that follows the life of Peppino (Francesco Scianna), a Sicilian shepherd and communist, from 1920s to the 1980s, through the eyes of lovers Peppino and Mannina (Margareth Madè). The film explores the loves, dreams, and disappointments of an entire community in the province of Palermo over five decades.
