Heavens Above!

In the 1963 British satirical comedy film "Heavens Above!", a naive but caring prison chaplain is accidentally appointed as vicar to a small and prosperous English country town, where he immediately clashes with the locals' pretentiousness and hypocrisy. The cleric's unconventional methods of charity and forgiveness lead to social ructions, including the appointment of a black dustman as churchwarden and persuading a local landowner to provide free food to the town's poor. As chaos ensues, the bishop appoints a new vicar and sends the original to the Scottish island of "Ultima Thule," where he becomes an unlikely hero in space.
