The Preppie Murder is based on the true story of Robert Chambers, who killed Jennifer Levin in 1986 after they left a Manhattan bar together. The film follows Detective Mike Sheehan (Danny Aiello) as he investigates the case and gathers evidence that points to Chambers' guilt. Chambers claims that his killing was accidental during rough sex, but his defense attorney (William Baldwin) puts on a vigorous trial, attacking Levin's personal history in an attempt to sway the jury.
