William Joseph Devane is an American actor born on September 5, 1937, in Albany, New York. He began his career with the New York Shakespeare Festival, performing in 15 plays, and gained acclaim for his roles as President John F. Kennedy in The Missiles of October and blacklisted radio personality John Henry Faulk in Fear on Trial. Devane is also known for his ten-year tenure as Greg Sumner on Knots Landing, a role that cemented his status as a primetime soap opera icon.
