Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande

In the tumultuous UK of the early 1970s, Cymande's story is one of resilience and the power of music to transcend borders and generations. Despite achieving success in the US, the group's unique blend of jazz, funk, soul, and Caribbean grooves was met with indifference in their native Britain, leading to a disbanding that seemed final. But as artists such as Soul II Soul, De La Soul, MC Solaar, and The Fugees drew inspiration from Cymande's pioneering sound, the Dove's message of peace and unity spread far and wide. After 40 years apart, Cymande is reunited in this compelling documentary that explores the enduring legacy of their groundbreaking music.
