Swiss Family Robinson

A Swiss father, William Robinson (Thomas Mitchell), wishes to escape the influence of London on his family and sets out to Australia with his wife and four sons. They are shipwrecked on a remote deserted island after a storm, where they collaborate to create a home in the alien jungle environment. The family members learn to use unfamiliar plants and animals to survive, while the mother (Edna Best) misses her elegant home and community in England, struggling with her new circumstances.
