Hakkenden

Takizawa Bakin, a celebrated author of Edo period tales, begins to recount an epic story before his friend and artist Katsushika Hokusai, weaving a narrative of eight warriors bound by fate as they confront the curse of the Satomi family. As Bakin's tale unfolds, Hokusai becomes increasingly entwined in the story, drawing him into a strange and intimate relationship with the author. But when Bakin's life work reaches its climax after 28 years, his own struggles with blindness threaten to derail the very completion he has sought for so long.
