Year of the Dog

Molly Shannon stars as Peggy, a 40-something administrative assistant whose life changes in unexpected ways after her beloved dog Pencil dies. A sympathetic best friend and neighbor, Layla (Regina King) tries to support Peggy through her grief, but most people around her don't truly understand her emotions. When Peggy adopts a new dog named Valentine from the SPCA, she becomes exposed to veganism and animal rights activism, leading her to re-evaluate her life and ultimately find a new sense of purpose in fighting for animals.
