Waterloo Bridge

In World War I London, Myra Deauville is an American out-of-work chorus girl making ends meet by picking up men on Waterloo Bridge. During a Zeppelin air raid she meets Roy Cronin, a naive young American who enlisted in the Canadian army. After they fall for each other, Roy tricks Myra into visiting his family, where he proposes to her. However, Myra tells him the truth about herself, causing Roy's mother Mary to advise Myra not to marry him. Eventually, Roy visits Myra again, and she agrees to marry him immediately, but later escapes from their engagement after discovering Roy is on the verge of returning to battle.
