Il ragazzo di campagna is a 1984 Italian comedy film about Artemio (Renato Pozzetto), who leaves his monotonous life as a farmer to move to Milan in search of a new job and life, only to find himself in a series of comedic misunderstandings with his cousin Severino (Massimo Boldi), a city slicker who turns out to be a trickster. Artemio falls in love with Angela (Donna Osterbuhr), but their relationship is complicated by her modern lifestyle, leading him to eventually return to his country town and choose a life with Maria Rosa (Sandra Ambrosini).
