The Hanging Tree

In a lawless gold rush town along The Montana Trail, an embittered doctor (Gary Cooper) sets up practice, rescuing a criminal from a lynch mob and taking on a dubious servant to help him survive. He nurses a young Swiss immigrant back to health after she's injured in a coach robbery, earning the enmity of several prospectors while falling for her. As their romance blossoms, he must confront his own troubled past and protect her from danger, leading to a showdown that will determine his fate and hers.
