Three Colors: Red

Valentine Dussaut, played by Irène Jacob, is a part-time model who runs over Rita, a pregnant Malinois dog, while walking home one evening. She takes the dog to a veterinarian and later discovers its owner, reclusive retired judge Joseph Kern, who has a habit of illegally listening to his neighbors' private conversations. As Valentine develops an unlikely friendship with Joseph, played by Jean-Louis Trintignant, she uncovers his cynical motivations and grapples with her own emotions amidst their bond.
