In 1890s Paris, a city alive with artistic expression and excess, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's life was a testament to both the beauty of bohemian lifestyle and the devastating consequences of unchecked passion. As a struggling artist commissioned to create posters for the infamous Moulin Rouge cabaret, Lautrec's own life was a series of contradictions: his physical frailty belied by an insatiable creative spirit; his addiction to absinthe threatening to consume him whole. Amidst this vibrant, decaying world, he found love with fellow artist Suzanne Valadon, whose portrait would become one of the defining images of the Impressionist era.
