National Theatre Live: Follies

In 1971, on the soon-to-be-demolished stage of the Weismann Theatre, a reunion is being held to honor the Weismann's Follies shows past and the beautiful chorus girls who performed there every year between the two world wars. The ghosts of the young showgirls slowly drift through the theater as their former colleagues, including Sally Durant Plummer (Imelda Staunton) and Phyllis Rogers Stone (Janie Dee), reunite with their spouses. As they reminisce about old times, the score offers a pastiche of 1920s and 1930s musical styles, evoking a nostalgic tone.
