"Outerlands" is a powerful drama about Cass (Asia Kate Dillon), a non-binary gig economy worker in San Francisco who juggles multiple low-paying jobs to make ends meet, as they take care of Ari (Ridley Asha Bateman), the 11-year-old daughter left with them by coworker Kalli (Louisa Krause) after she fails to return from her trip. As Cass struggles to cope with their own childhood traumas and abandonment issues, a bond forms between them and Ari that spirals back into painful memories.
