Angel and the Badman

Angel and the Badman is a 1947 American Western film written and directed by James Edward Grant and starring John Wayne as Quirt Evans, a notorious gunman who finds temporary sanctuary with a young Quaker woman, Penelope 'Penny' Worth (Gail Russell), and her family. After being nursed back to health by the kindly family, Quirt develops an affection for their faith and way of life, but his troubled past follows him.
