The Big Blue

The Big Blue (1988) tells the story of childhood friends Jacques Mayol (Jean-Marc Barr) and Enzo Molinari (Jean Reno), both renowned freedivers. After Enzo rescues a diver from a shipwreck in Sicily, he challenges Jacques to return to no-limits freediving to prove his superiority. As their competitive rivalry intensifies, Jacques's love for the deep becomes increasingly all-consuming, putting his relationship with his girlfriend Johana Baker (Rosanna Arquette) and his own life at risk.
