The Incident

On a late Sunday evening in the Bronx, punks Joe Ferrone and Artie Connors are looking for trouble, terrorizing 14 passengers sharing a New York City Subway car in their quest for humiliation and degradation. As the train passes through the next 15 stations, the two hoods psychologically terrorize every single adult passenger, targeting an elderly Jewish couple, a middle-aged husband and wife, an out-of-work recovering alcoholic, and an angry racist couple. Only when Pfc. Felix Teflinger stands up to Joe does he finally challenge him, engaging in hand-to-hand combat despite his broken arm and eventually overpowering Joe with a knee to the groin. The other passengers watch in stunned silence as the police arrive and take Arnold Robinson off the train, leaving him battered and bloodied.
