Ready Player One

In a dystopian 2045, people escape their dreary reality through the OASIS, a virtual reality universe created by James Halliday and Ogden Morrow of Gregarious Games. A contest is announced after Halliday's death, granting ownership of the OASIS to the first to find the golden Easter egg, which is locked behind a gate requiring three keys. Wade Watts, an orphaned Columbus, Ohio-based Gunter using the avatar Parzival, participates in the contest alongside his allies, including Art3mis, and must complete challenges before the evil corporation IOI can control the OASIS. As Wade navigates the virtual world, he discovers clues to Halliday's life and hobbies, and finds himself entangled in a quest that could change the course of his life forever.
