Buster Keaton stars as Projectionist, who moonlights as an amateur detective, when he is framed by his rival for stealing his girlfriend's father's pocket watch. He finds himself entangled in a series of slapstick misadventures, but ultimately solves the crime and wins back his love interest through a surreal dream sequence where he becomes the brilliant and suave Sherlock Jr. - a film within a film that seamlessly blurs the lines between reality and fantasy.
