In this witty and poignant neo-beat noir comedy, three men from different walks of life escape from prison in New Orleans. Tom Waits stars as Zack, a disc jockey struggling to find his way after being arrested for a gruesome discovery, while John Lurie plays Jack, a small-time pimp with a penchant for trouble. Meanwhile, Roberto Benigni brings warmth and humor as Bob, an Italian immigrant who befriends the duo in prison and helps them escape through a series of tunnels into the Louisiana bayou. As they navigate the unforgiving wilderness together, they come to realize that their newfound freedom is not without its costs – and that sometimes, the journey itself is more important than the destination.
