In 1953, Vincent Price stars in a genre highlight as Henry Jarrod, a talented sculptor of wax figures who runs a museum showcasing historical figures who have met grisly ends. When his business partner demands more sensational exhibits to increase profits, a row ensues and Jarrod is left for dead after the museum burns down. He resurfaces, appearing wheelchair-bound with horribly burned hands, and uses his assistants to create new wax figures that are more lifelike than ever, featuring their own bodies as displays.
