Lines of Wellington

Set against the backdrop of Napoleon's 1810 invasion of Portugal, "Lines of Wellington" (2012) tells the passionate romance and brutal treachery of selfless nobility amidst the troops, as General John Malkovich leads the Anglo-Portuguese army under Viscount Wellington at the Battle of Bussaco. The film follows a series of vignettes that show the effects on combatants and civilians alike, as they face the challenges of war and survival. Soraia Chaves shines in her portrayal of Martírio, amidst a talented cast including Marisa Paredes as D. Filipa Sanches and Carloto Cotta as Tenente Pedro de Alencar.
