The 1943 anthology film "Flesh and Fantasy" tells three supernatural tales. The first story is set at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, where Henrietta (Betty Field) chooses a mysterious mask that alters her life considerably. A palmist named Septimus Podgers (Thomas Mitchell) predicts that Marshall Tyler (Edward G. Robinson) will commit murder, which he ultimately does after becoming obsessed with fulfilling the prediction. The third segment follows Paul Gaspar (Charles Boyer), a high-wire artist haunted by dreams of falling and later meeting his dream girl Joan Stanley (Barbara Stanwyck).
