Barbara Stanwyck was a consummate and versatile professional in Hollywood, known for her strong screen presence, which earned her the favor of directors Cecil B. DeMille, Fritz Lang, and Frank Capra. With 85 films under her belt in 38 years, she made a successful transition from stage to screen, debuting as a Ziegfeld girl at 16 and landing her first lead role in Burlesque. She was nominated for four Academy Awards and won three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.
