Stella Dallas

A working-class woman named Stella Dallas marries well-to-do Stephen Dallas to improve her lot in life, eventually becoming his estranged wife as he pursues a new relationship. As she struggles to give her daughter Laurel a socially promising future, Stella realizes that her own ambitions may be standing in the way of her child's happiness.
