Baby Face

Lily Powers, played by Barbara Stanwyck, uses her body and sexuality to help her climb the social ladder in 1930s America and Europe. She works her way through various bosses, including a young John Wayne, accumulating wealth and wrecking relationships as she goes. Along the way, she adopts a Nietzschean philosophy and becomes embroiled in a series of romantic entanglements with powerful men, including Courtland Trenholm, played by George Brent. In the end, Lily must confront the consequences of her actions and decide whether she has found true happiness.
