In this action-comedy, a hot summer day unfolds at a convenience store in Detroit's Six Mile Road, where Gerard Jenkins is forced to run his family's shop after waking up from a dream of becoming a famous chef. The day is filled with unexpected events, including a local gangster asking for a hold on $5,000 and a young thief stealing the money. A chaotic sequence of threats, misunderstandings, and mistaken identities ensues, all leading to an unforgettable surprise: Gerard's family and nearly everyone who frequents the store outside are celebrating his birthday.
