Byzantium is a 2012 Gothic horror film directed by Neil Jordan, starring Gemma Arterton as Clara Webb and Saoirse Ronan as Eleanor Webb. The story follows two vampire mother and daughter, Clara and Eleanor, who seek sanctuary in a dilapidated coastal resort, where Clara sets her sights on a lonely man named Noel, while Eleanor befriends a young waiter from America named Frank. Through a series of flashbacks, the film reveals their past, including Clara's transformation into a vampire and her decision to spare Ruthven, a vengeful and syphilis-ridden Captain, in order to save her daughter's life.
