Matt Colter (Tim McIntire) and his Native American wife Little Doe build a cabin in Paiute country, unaware it's on a sacred burial ground. After a skirmish with a Paiute party, Matt takes revenge by stealing one of the women to care for their newborn child, leading to a series of violent confrontations as he fights to protect his family.
