Louis Jourdan was a French film and television actor born Louis Robert Gendre in Marseille, France in 1921. He began his acting career on the professional stage, studying at the École Dramatique before being cast by director Marc Allégret in Le Corsaire in 1939 opposite Charles Boyer. Jourdan's notable roles include suave characters in Alfred Hitchcock films like The Paradine Case and Gigi, as well as iconic villains like Dracula in a BBC television production.
