Zdeněk Svěrák is a Czech actor, humorist, and scriptwriter born on March 28, 1936, in Prague. A versatile artist with over 300 musical texts, plays, and ten films to his credit, he has won three Magnesia Litera awards for his writing. As the creator of fictional polymath Jára Cimrman, which won a Readers' Choice award in 2005, Svěrák is one of Czech culture's most beloved figures, with his work appearing in 32 films since 1968.
