The Elementary School

The film follows 10-year-old Eda Souček and his classmate Tonda Čejka as they attend a wild and indisciplined school under their new teacher, war hero Igor Hnízdo. Despite initial strict methods, the boys become charmed by Hnízdo's battlefront stories and kindness to them, earning his respect in turn. The townswomen, including Eda's mother, appreciate Hnízdo too, but controversy surrounds him due to past rumors about his military service and a disputed romantic affair with high school girls. The boys defend Hnízdo against accusations, ultimately forcing the withdrawal of charges and leading to his reinstatement as their teacher.
