Biography

Lindsay Kemp was a British dancer, actor, teacher, mime artist, and choreographer known for his work in The Wicker Man (1973) and Savage Messiah (1972). He starred as Divine in the 1974 flagship production of Flowers, a mime and music show based on Jean Genet's novel Our Lady of the Flowers. Kemp also collaborated with filmmakers Derek Jarman and Ken Russell, and mentored artists David Bowie and Kate Bush.
