Biography

Kuniko Miyake was a renowned Japanese actress born Yasu Miura on September 17, 1916, in Iwatsku City, Saitama Prefecture. She joined the Shochiku film studios in 1934 and appeared in over 180 films between 1934 and 1991, working with notable directors like Yasujirō Ozu. Her notable roles include Sister Yamakawa in "The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch" (1968) and Fumiko Hirayama in "Tokyo Story" (1953).
