Ryō Ikebe

Biography

Ryō Ikebe was a Japanese actor who began his career at Tōhō in 1941 and initially struggled to find popularity before gaining recognition with youth films in the late 1940s. He expanded his range in the 1950s, appearing in genre films such as tokusatsu and yakuza movies. Ikebe's breakout role came in Masahiro Shinoda's 1964 film noir Pale Flower, which he landed despite being cast against type for his perceived "ham actor" persona.
