Hakai

Apostasy is a 1948 Japanese drama film directed by Keisuke Kinoshita, starring Ryō Ikebe as Segawa, a young school teacher hiding his lower-class upbringing as he supports a visiting liberal intellectual, Kazama, played by Ichirō Sugai. The film explores the tensions between Segawa's promise to his father and his wish to confess his secret to his fiancée, Oshiho, played by Yōko Katsuragi.
