Biography
Arthur Basil Radford was a character actor who made his first stage appearance in 1924 after training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He gained recognition for his roles alongside Naunton Wayne as Charters and Caldicott in films such as The Lady Vanishes (1938) and Night Train to Munich (1940). Radford's experience during World War I, including a trench wound that left him with a crescent-shaped scar on his cheek, informed his portrayal of English characters.
