Lhakpa Tsamchoe

Biography

Lhakpa Tsamchoe is a Tibetan actress of Indian descent who made history by becoming the first Tibetan woman to break into mainstream film. Her breakthrough role came in 1997's "Seven Years in Tibet," alongside Brad Pitt and David Thewlis, where she played Pema Lhaki, a Tibetan tailor and wife. She later starred in French-made movie "Himalaya" (1999) as one of the leading characters.
