Biography

Michael Constantine was a Greek-American actor born Gus Efstratiou on May 22, 1927, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He earned critical acclaim for his role as Seymour Kaufman, the long-suffering high school principal on ABC's Room 222, winning a Primetime Emmy Award in 1970. Constantine reprised this character in later TV work and also portrayed Kostas "Gus" Portokalos in the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and its sequel.
