William Sylvester

Biography

William Sylvester was a British-American actor born in Oakland, California, in 1922. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Dr. Heywood Floyd in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). A staple of British B films in the 1950s and 1960s, Sylvester's early career included starring roles in Hammer horror films and American productions like You Only Live Twice and Busting. He died in Sacramento, California, in 1995, aged 72.
